Contact Sheets 090426 / Bunnies from an Alien Planet

I recently took all four of my medium-format cameras out in nature to shoot, as part of my video on my collection. The brush was golden in the sun, and I walked around the park in search of a few good moments.

One of my favorite moments happened just before the sun set. A stag emerged from the brush, and I watched him as he marched (unfazed by me) over to meet a doe. Moments later, out pranced a baby deer. They all stood together, staring silently. Soon the doe left, followed by baby. But the stag lingered a bit longer. I stared at him, and he stared at me. Bored, he eventually ambled back into the brush.

It was then I realized how much "trust," even for a moment, means in the wild. I don't even feel that "trust" is the right word, given that they didn't stay very long. But we did share a small moment of presence, and out in nature that could be a matter of life or death. So I like to think it means something.

And then of course, there were the bunnies. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the color right on those scans, but I do think there's something kind of charming about leaving it that way.
